LBJ /IH-35E Transportation Enhancements / Aesthetic Master Plan

Dallas, Texas

TxDOT had decided to let the new Managed Lane project on LBJ Freeway (IH-635) and IH-35E to be a design-build project.  Phillips’ team was awarded the project aesthetic designs by the contractor, Trinity Infrastructure.

Phillips’ team started designing the landscape and hardscape in December 2009.  Several themes to the highway were studied.  The final aesthetic selected was an arrow pattern with a large star emblem placed in the managed lanes under the bridges.

Each bridge received its unique character and landscape design.  Sound walls were also designed with the LBJ arrow pattern.
